Blue Note Connoisseur and similar pressings

I picked up the following info on another site and wondered what others may think.

The Connoisseur pressings came out just after the wholesale conversion to digital mastering and pressing. Supposedly Capital adapted many of their analogue mastering decks to include a preview head that fed an ADAC encoding at 16/44. The resulting digital data stream was used to create a digital file from which a new digital master would be created, and then used for pressing. Supposedly the Connoisseur pressings were made from digital conversions.

Many have felt these to be inferior pressings- with much comment about truncated dynamics, harsh treble etc. If the above is true, the comments do make some sense.

Any truth to this ?
