Ferras in particular I am a devoted fan,and his Double Concerto with Tortelier is very fine,but to my surprise I prefer Szeryng/Starker.The recording is not purist as there is some spotlighting going on,with this piece I don't think that is such a bad thing.

You mention Stern,I have a mono US Columbia LP of Stern/Rose/Walter of which I am fond.

I have the Oistrakh/Rostropvich/Szell ASD but never got around to listening to it!After reading your post doubt if I ever will.
