If we're just talking about retaining as much of the original signal from the vinyl as possible (on a standalone recorder for $1500 or less), I have not heard or seen anything that beats this (for a boat load more money, yes). I would still take 7.5 ips or better 1/2 track 1/4" over this; but, if I had to go with a standalone (in your rack) digital recorder, this would be it. And yes, I've had my hands on both units. Just one man's opinion.
