Re: Aksa compared to Leach Amp ?

205.175.225.22

Do you have a clue?

" What I should have said, is the Leach amp uses active components in their constant current current sources. "

Leach uses a resistor to feed the long tail pairs, same as the AKSA.

"Sure, you can leave out short circuit protection. But it was designed with this circuitry and Prof. Leach doesn't recommend leaving it out. I was pointing out its more a difference in design philosophy, rather than being a negative feature."

The original Leach low TIM amp had no current limiting.

"If you skip the cascode on the inputs....is it still a Leach amp?"

The original Leach low TIM amp had no cascode on the diff pairs.

"Really, I'm not in a position to judge the merits of one amp over another from a design point of view. I think it great that there are so many different amps out there for us DIYers. There is bound to be one that fits the DIYers requirements."

The original Leach low TIM amp will fill the bill for minimalists.
