there is usually no problem with the demo equipment. I also have studio 20's and lcr450, and a 70watts/ch Harman Kardon receiver. The studio 20's play loud and clear even with my moderate powered receiver, so I don't think receiver is your problem. My experience with the studio 20's is that you have to be careful where you place them. They sound significantly different, especially in a small room, depending on where you place them. Since your room is quite small, (except the open end), I suggest you experiment with their placement. If that is not an option, then probably the only other "tweak" to improve sound is acoustic room treatment. You can probably find cheap DIY acoustic treatments in this forum. Hope that helps...
