I am not suggesting that there is a problem with the height at all. I would expect your new brush to work very well. This is purely a visual thing for me, I don't want to see my gear up in the air on footers of any kind. I much prefer to make the footer as close to invisible as possible, nothing more than that. The PE nail brush are exceptional for this especially if the base is trimmed off and a thin compliant sponge pad is uses under the PE fingers this lowers the component further and adds a bit more vertical compliance to that brush. A very low profile solution. For heavier components I have included a fiberous pad under the PE fingers (inside of the PE wall material) to shore up both the PE wall of the brush as well as to dissipate more energy as the PE fingers flex.
