DIY Headphone Cables/The Stereo Mini XLR

DIY'ing headphone cables seems eminently doable. I have a specific connector type I'd like to add to the mix to connect to a headphone amp - a single termination mini stereo/4 pin XLR plug.

I have three different types of headphones and respective cables to deal with - Focal Elexs with 3.5mm mono/TRS at the headphone end, HiFiMan HE-400is with a 2.5mm stereo/TRRS at the headphone, and Sennheiser 6XXs and 58Xs that use Sennheiser's connector at the headphone.

I have a nice little Musical Fidelity V90 BHA headphone amplifier that uses a single mini XLR output jack. The pin outs are easy enough, and the manual specifies them.

What I'm not certain about is what the electrical connections are like at the headphone. I suppose the Sennhesiers are easy enough, with left/right and +/-. I'm not sure about the Focals or the HiFiMan and how many conductors they're using and where they might go terminating into a single mini stereo XLR connector.

Maybe an adapter? A mini 4 pin female XLR to female 3.5mm?

I'd be happy to be educated on this.

Thanks.
