RE: Green Wave Filters

"You can make all kinds of ridiculous audio quality claims, but once you start making medical claims, the FTC is going to step in.

And that's good, because they will rid the market of this snake oil! "

That would more likely be the FDA rather than the FTC. But the important part is that if it is users and not the company making the claim there is not much they can do.

Plus, noise can affect people's mood. There is no doubt. (look at the dog bark eliminators they sell for example)Tape hiss, I have found can be really annoying to some people, to the point where they'll listen to music without any highs at all rather than put up with it. Others can't stand bass. I know one who can't stand the 400 Hz test tone put out by a generator at work.

I am not plugging the thing, Ihave never tried one. I also have never tried one of those "Triwhatever" things and am quite dubious about their efficacy in improving sound.

But I do not dismiss it completely because I have an idea how it might work. People claim it seems like they have more clean power. Well if the thing is a pi filter with inductive input and output what would happen is that is would unload the amp from reproducing those higher orders of harmonic distortion.

I still have plenty of doubt and I mean a ton of it. And as much of an audiophile someone is, just because they like the sound better does not mean it is more accurate. Only instrumentation can tell that because it is objective, something humans almost never are.

The one review talked about kids. It is totally possible they are sensitive to ultrasonics. When the THD is measured in an amp there is a frequency limit. If they're hearing some harmonic out in east bumfuct somewhere, like 19th or something like that, it could have an effect.

Another proven fact is that even if you can't hear a sound it doesn't mean it isn't there. There could be a physiological response even though the ears cannot hear it.

If the company starts making those claims, the government will be all over them like rain on a Florida afternoon. They shut down mostof the alternative cancer treatment places even if they had good results, they shut down vitamin K. they shut down Farm 2 Fork. And that was ridiculous. They said something about serving temperature. That is one of those thinks for selective enforcement. think about it, does a restaurant have to warm up your salad ?

General rule of thumb is that if the company cannot afford lobby (bribe) money, they will be regulated, possibly out of business, even if their product does work. Large importers can get away with whatever they want, even to squish the little guy out of the market.

Capitalism in the US 101.
