RE: ferrite beads

Oh they work quite well. This guy who makes wonderful custom cables gave me as a bonus a cheap USB cable he had modified by adding a single ferrite. He tuned the location of the ferrite. It really improves the cheap/stock cable.

This was a USB 2.0 cable. I simply want to do something similar with a USB 3.0 cable. I should probably ask him where he got the ferrites, but I also wanted to ask this forum as part of a general search for ideas.

Oh I forgot -- between posting my original post and now, I realized that I could unclamp the ferrite from the USB cable he gave me and snap it onto my USB 3.0 stock cable (A to micro B for a hard drive). It improved the sound while in the middle, and did not improve (or maybe degraded) the sound at the computer (A) end. I haven't tried the micro B end yet.
