RE: AC Receptacle...Furutech GTX-D Gold vs FPX Gold

Hi, pc123v. The most substantial objective difference between these is the GTX uses pure, solid copper for the conductive parts, whereas the FPX uses phosphor bronze for the base metal. The IACS conductivity between any brass or bronze is going to be significantly less than that of pure, solid copper. The yoke of the GTX is also quite rigid (more so than the FPX). They are both outstanding outlets, IMO- but I feel the GTX wins out in micro detail, as well as low end slam. Highs are excellent in both, although not quite the air and 'sparkle' that you're likely to get with the Rhodium versions of each. If your system has a tendency to lean towards analytical/clinical, and you're looking for more warmth and 'meat on the bones', then the FPX and GTX Gold's will likely work well for you. If however, you have excessive warmth, and are looking for more clarity, top-end sparkle/air, then for most, I think Rhodium would be the preferred plating.

I'd also note that the NCF version of the GTX outlet has slightly more warmth than the Rhodium version.

If putting on a polar scale of warmth and resolution, and assigning the GTX gold with a value of '1' and Rhodium GTX with a value of '10', then the NCF version I'd put at a 6-1/2 to 7...

Full disclosure: I am a Furutech dealer, and have also tried (almost) everything out there... This is my assessment based on my own observations, as well as a great deal of feedback from clients. YMMV.

Spec sheets: Furutech FPX & Furutech GTX
