RE: 6922 and 6SN7 Soviet Substitutes

The reason is plain curiosity;), honestly I have too much free time on my hands these days...

Seriously though, I'm just really curious about the Soviet stuff. The tubes of my BAT are mostly Soviet-made or semi-Soviet, so I decided to swap the modern ones with NOS.

I found a guy in Russia, who knows his stuff, he also is an avid DIY-er. He promised to find whatever I want. So far, I have had a really unbelievable experience with the Soviet 6J9P-E tube in one of my preamps, from their first tube factory, and it killed literally every 6688 tube I've ever tried.

Don't remember what's inside my amp (probably new Sovteks), those 6922s are in the bottom of the amp, I have to remove the panel to see it. Once I have the replacements, I'll report my findings about them.
