RE: 6l6 pin 1 shield connection

Let's look at the EL34 data sheet. Pin 1 is g3 (an active electrode) and normally connects to the cathode (pin 8). My previous remark about active electrodes applies. There is nothing to tie to the chassis in an EL34.
