Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Wow! Thank you very much. I do have the shellac you mentioned.

I am 1500 miles away from that location, so a new picture is not possible. That is not mildew, but it is reflected light from the top of the Victrola compared to the darker, vertical, face of the Victrola.

Your work on the amp bases looks fantastic. I have never had the patience for woodworking, I only have a skilsaw, and my workbench gets folded up when I am finished. ;^)

That Victrola is not valuable, as Victor made this simple looking design for the middle class. A total of 843,000 sold until 1921. The original price was $100, and I paid $110 from a seller on craigslist. Inflation calculators show $2757 in today's cost, so I would call it upper middle class for the general public for a record player.

My Victrola is in excellent condition except the hard grease in the motor. I purchased all the repair gear, supplies, and protective gear, and I only need the nerve to play with the spring.

Just for fun, I purchased the box that was used to ship this model.
