Possible that the bottom corner Wire clip holes were plugged and filled at some point .. these are/were ~ 3/16" holes, once the spring clip gizmos are removed.
Fairly easily plugged dealt with If one wanted to bother (don't know why one would tho), rather than simply replacing the spring clips with normal binding posts. Which was clearly done.
That said: All manner of discordant anomalies left the Tannoy factory.
It's conceivable that a few oddities went out the door.
Beige plastic boxes were obstensibly only fitted to Golds,produced from '67 to '74.
Tannoy 'Boxes' were an afterthought product, to quell Dealer demands..indicative of V little
