I had Cizek model 3's many years ago, very nice speakers. If I recall I had them within a few inches of the wall, or possibly against the wall. Most pictures I have seen of the Model 1 has it on a low stand some distance out from the wall.There appears to be a good review (see link below) on the model 1, but it is an image (not text) and in Italian. If you can translate it, it may say something about placement in the room.
The 'Q' switch on the front panel may be utilized for a next to the wall placement. One position or the other will probably sound better.
Good luck, a pair of restored model 1's would be a nice find.
