To my understanding after talking to the owner who inherited them they listed for $18K in the early nineties, and probably purchased for around $13K. Current Borderland model cost unknown. But I heard somewhere in the $50K range?
Other than someone crinkling the cones like beer cans, right now the unknowns are if the cone drivers and woofers sustained electrical damage due to an amplifier failure.
If the cone drivers are electrically OK through a full frequency sweep, then I have a source for cone and surround repair.
However if they are toast, GP has replacements, at $2900/pair delivered. Pricey!
So its a big decision on how far to take them if that's the case. Not sure what the market price would be to recoup later.
Woofers, not too concerned-full recone or replacement should be straightforward. Dealer wont tell me what woofers are used, but he also said I would know right away when I remove them for inspection.
For what I'm getting them for I'm taking the risk.
Cabinets are almost mint.
