RE: What's this? Double blind testing?

I thought the golden ear crowd got wildly upset at the very mention
of DBT

When conducted properly, i.e. testing the controls and eliminating unsupported assumptions from the outset, they work just fine for determining gross differences and user preferences. Which is what Harman (now Samsung) does with its DBT single speaker tests using the "shuffler". Magnepan tests its new designs using blind testing as well. Nothing wrong when done correctly - which is rarely the case.

Most folks here, however, do fall on the floor laughing when reading stuff from Arny Krueger, E. Brad Meyer, etc. It's clear they don't know what they don't know. :)
