young and hungry beats the daylights out of old and complacent. I just watched an amazing video of Irish Music history tonight called "Out of Ireland" which I really liked.. I am a massive collector of Irish folk ...rock and now and again, a Coleen. I have 900 Irish albums on the hard drive and another 300 or maybe more vinyl on various Irish labels on one of me shelves. PB is one of the greats with an astounding voice and delivery. The others in Planxty are all at the top of their game too. Christy Moore being an Irish Nation Treasure.
I chose that version as I really like that reunion DVD they did in 2004...
I shoulda been born in Dublin Town....
Some day I will tell the story about Paddy Keenan, the great uilleann piper from the Bothy Band, and I met and became great friends nafter he stumbled into me and we both spilled our glasses of Single Malt on one another. Tears fell, we were in a bar in San Francisco and he had this weird instrument case with him...I asked him what was in it and he showed me the pipes...I was stunned. Well ....we had a wee bit more Single Malt and he said come with me and you can hear me play 'em! What else to do I thought....
The Plough & The Stars, a premiere Irish bar was where we went...he was back slapped and hand shook and I kinda thought he may be a famous guy....Then he gathered a bunch of players and took the stage and I about died....But I digress...
