I put together a nice shop system. A new Allo Volt 50 watt chip amp for $60. Allo basically built the TI reference schematic. A used HP linear bench power supply for $70, A used pair of small Advents for $50. Nice piece of quad star cable for the speakers from Chris VenHaus for $25. An old Nokia phone with a decent dac that I paid $50 for when it was new 10 years ago that might be worth $20 That gets the local FM stations and runs Pandora. You could add a streamer with a better dac for about $200.
