... that she knows where the money is and so caters to her biggest audience, a much younger crowd. She would hardly be the first talented performer who underutilizes their natural talent in order to chase the fame and fortune of mass popularity. That would also explain the autotune, since it imparts a "sound" that is currently an expected part of the pop scene.
