A graphic equaliser may be a bit overkill if you have an amp with tone controls. My NAD M33 (and before that M32 and M12 preamp) has optional tone controls that allow treble (and bass) to be raised or lowered by up to 6 dB. This would be a gradual increase so may achieve just about what you've described. The other advantage of course is that it needs no extra cables.If you've achieved much better sound to compensate for your hearing, that's really all that matters - well done. However just remember that any visitors may find the sound aggressively top heavy!
