This is my most memorable handoff from FedEx to the USPS. The letter quoted below tells the story.

"Dear Jim,

It is with great relief that I can announce to you that the notorious roaming package has finally found its way back to the (company name removed) office. The package travelled for 78 days and made 13 stops in 8 different states. A true shipping anomaly if there ever was one. Needless to say, we will never attempt to send anything to you via FedEx SmartPost ever again. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us. I am saving the box (replete with stickers, stamps and handwritten directions from thirteen different shipping facilities) in my office to memorialize this affair. We truly thank you for your understanding during this immensely frustrating process. Have a Happy Holiday Season.
