I can't take anything written in the press anymore as gospel. I simply don't believe the whole story is being told.
A black guy in the late 40's and early 50's that was popular and making a lot of money? I can see how he might be accused of all sorts of horrible things to "show him who's boss."
By the way, no one arrested Elvis when he took Priscilla who was....uhhhhhhh oh yeah... ALSO 14 years old to his house where I doubt they were only engaging in exciting conversations...
So while I'm sure he was no saint, he, IMO was no different than an other rock and roller and that HE is vilified for the same things other musicians are given a "nudge nudge wink wink" for is frankly disgusting.
