I would like to keep the unit. but I just want to make sure it's a good decision.
I live in Mexico. The Sony authorized repair shop here diagnosed the power board as the problem, but they can't get one. I've found one in the US for about $160, and I am figuring about $40 for labor to install it, given the low labor rates here. It may go higher, or there could be additional problems with the unit, so there is some risk.
The alternative is to buy replacement components here in Mexico (higher cost, less availability), or to import from the States. Either way, I'll end up spending a lot more than $200.
