Feedback may or may not mean a thing. I just bought a *mint* Thorens
TD 125 MKII from the original owner on Audiogon. It arrived yesterday
and I opened the box today. The dust cover is broken in 3 places on top and also at the hinges. Two of the breaks are over the arm and it may be damaged. The unit looks O.K., but no where near mint. Unless mint means dirty, like 30 years of dirt. The wood is abused etc. The platter was removed, bubble wrapped and placed in the same box as the table with dust cover attached. Bad move. I paid the asking price, plus shipping and requested that it be well packed to avoid this scenario. I hope things work out.I've bought a lot of audio goods on the net and had no real problems until this year. This was the worst and will probably be my last purchase in this manner. I have not heard from the seller yet and via,
e-mail, offered to send digital photos.Tubes, that's a whole 'nuther story. It seems that certain e-bay sellers are now unloading 'test new' NOS tubes that are that are unlistenable due to microphonics. I'm done there too.
When you can't tell the *good guys* from the bad, it's time to quit.
I feel better now even though I have a $500 turntable jig saw puzzle.
