Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Even if it were possible, I don't think you'd want to do that...

The FiiO uses only micro SD cards and they're not easily replaceable. You have to remove the leather case and then you have to open the micro SD card compartment, which is not designed to be opened and closed on a continuous basis. It's a tray that slides in and out. Therefore, it would be easier to store your TASCAM recordings on you computer and then connect the FiiO to your computer with a USB cable to make changes to the FiiO's micro SD memory card. You can easily gain access to the FiiO's internal memory by connecting it to your computer with a USB cable.

The TASCAM uses a standard size SD card and its SD card compartment is easy to access. The TASCAM is designed to have its SD card removed and replaced continuously. Furthermore, you will definitely want to store all your TASCAM recordings on multiple hard drives for security. If you're like me, you will also want to load your TASCAM recordings into your computer so you can split them into separate tracks, label the tracks with names and organize the tracks into an album folder. This is accomplished most easily by transferring the recordings to your computer and using TASCAM's Hi-Res Editor, which is free software from TASCAM for this exact purpose. Then, after you get your album organized and finalized, you'll want to store it on at least two different hard drives for security. Hard drives can go bad occasionally and you don't want to ever lose your TASCAM recordings.

The easiest way to use the FiiO player is to install the largest capacity memory card available and fill it with your favorite music. I use a 1-TB micro SD card in my FiiO player. Of course, I fill it up directly from my computer and then install it into my FiiO player. After that, if I want to change a few albums, I connect my FiiO player to my computer to make the changes. The only reason I would reinstall the memory card into my computer is if I wanted to change out a large number of albums. After all, a 1-TB memory card can hold a lot of music.

John Elison
