RE: Revelation?

"How much will someone pay for a used Bryston vs someone's DIY Raspberry set up? Admittedly, even if you get "zero" back for the Pi, the Pi will certainly have the advantage. But the net difference saved will be narrower than originally perceived."

Interesting exercise in cost and depreciation. So you lose about $200 on the entire Raspberry Pi project assuming it's worth ZERO when you sell it. In reality, you re-purpose it or throw it in the trash. So lets say you lose $200.

You will certainly lose much more than $200 on a used Bryston BDP-Pi. I'd say at least $500 if you sell it now, much more if you wait a while. Why? Because the BDP-Pi is ALREADY obsolete with it's Raspberry Pi 3 board inside. All the DIY-ers are on Raspberry Pi 4 ;-)

I posted because there are some in this forum who think the Raspberry Pi doesn't stand a chance against expensive "bespoke" streamers. Well, here's another example that kills that myth.
