Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

Another audiophile product with a Raspberry Pi under the hood........

I just read about the Bryston BDA-3.14 DAC/Preamp/Streamer in the October 2020 issue of The Absolute Sound (p.86): $4195 MSRP.

Reviewer Steven Stone says,

"Bryston's approach to Ethernet and Internet music acquisition is refreshingly pragmatic. Instead of building a server from scratch, it began with a Raspberry Pi 3 mini-computer as its Internet gateway device. Why a Pi? Because it works reliably and has excellent and continuing support from Pi."

"Anyone who's curious as to why Bryston chose to use 3.14 as a the model number.... it happens to equal Pi."

I've posted before about the Bryston BDP-Pi streamer. The "Pi" in the product name is for the sub-$50 Raspberry Pi board which is at the heart of the $1500 Bryston BDP-Pi. And like the Bryston BDP-Pi, the streaming component of the BDA-3.14 is also the sub-$50 Raspberry Pi board. Why not? The Raspberry Pi is a cost effective yet excellent sounding streamer, and Bryston doesn't have a lock on making it sound great. Any DIYer can do it too.
