Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: Shocked at how good the Arcam rBlink is

Yea, just pick one and give it a try. They aren't expensive and if you don't like one software package you can just download another. The DAC hats are cheap too, or if you have a DAC you like you can use that too.

I run Audirvana on my iMac, but it all plays through the Raspberry Pi's I have set up around the house. Once you have one set up you'll want to put in another for that bedroom or kitchen system like I did. And also, you'll want to look into Qobuz or Tidal for hi-res streaming. Hi-res is definitely better sounding than CD quality. That's one reason I was able to go back to digital. I still don't play my CDs. It is easier to just stream whatever I want. A lot of the classic rock is in hi-res if you're into that. Jazz is a mix, and a lot of classical is in hi-res too. If you're into hip-hop or country I couldn't tell ya.

The setups are very flexible. You can stream music directly to the RPi from a service, hook up a NAS on the network and play from the RPi, play internet radio. I use my iMac but it isn't necessary to have a computer other than the Pi.
