Re: as good as rega planet?

Just for the sake of argumnt. I recently bought a Rega Planet and I don't understand why people think it's not detailed. The detail is there, it's just not forward in the presentation or amplfied in some way. I'm not talking "forward" as in harsh or fatiguing, but a lot of digital presents details "up front." If I connect my MSB Link DAC to the Planet it immediately seems there is more detail because the MSB presents the detail way forward and up front. Switching back the Planet it's easily noticeable that the detail is all there but it's laid back in presentation. I could understand in a more uncontrolled situation, in unfamiliar surroundings perhaps, that the Planet would seem less detailed. I don't see the Planet as a player lacking in detail, it's more something of a matter of taste. Do you want your detail presented to you in an easy to hear and up front manner or slightly laid back. Associated equipment and cabling can also be a factor with something like the Planet, where a highly revealing system will do it complete justice and a less revealing, perhaps less detailed system will not do it justice.

I'm not a Planet owner trying to viciously defend the Planet here. I bought this player only a couple weeks ago and am just now understanding what kind of player it really is.

Best,
Sean Heisler
