ChrisVH ICs successful attempt (rounds 2 & 3)and a question at the end

199.203.80.158

I first tried to construct ICs according the ChrisVH recipe to replace 60cm DNM ICs between my Parasound 1500 dac and my Moth passive preamp. The attempt failed in the sense that the DNM where simply better. Encouraged by Chris himself, I turned to make another pair, this time longer (1m), to replace my Monster M850 between the preamp and the EAR509 monoblocks. In the first attempt I wound the wire in 2cm steps. In the second attempt I followed the recipe more religiously stepping 2.5cm. Well, from the moment I connected the new ICs I knew the Monsters are out.
Encouraged by the success, I made a third attempt. Taking off the teflon tape from the unsuccessful pair and rewinding in 2.5cm steps. What do you know. They now bit the DNM walking.
After few days of listening, I tried to insert the DNMs back in place. As if someone stuffed wax into my ears.
However, a problem appeared: some noise - sounds like 100Hz - comes and goes without control. What can it be? is it directly from the cable or can it be some more complicated interaction of the cable(s) and the power amps?
