RE: Black Mamba vs DH Labs with various connectors.

No experience with the Black Mamba cable at all but I have been a long time (12 years plus at least) user of DH Labs Power+.

Had it cryogenically treated along with Marinco connectors many years ago and used it on my integrated amp, phono preamp, blu-ray player and also running from my main wall receptacle (a cryoed Oyaide R1) into an Audio Sensibilty power distributor fitted with two Furutech GTX golds and a
cryoed Hubbell 5262 (which I don't really use, might replace that at some time with an Oyaide R0).

A few months ago I decided to experiment solely with the Viborg connectors. Went with the basic nylon bodied unplated copper in a couple of less important applications: on my turntable fixed power cord and also on the power supply that I use to feed the turntable. Was surprised at the positive effects that even those cheaper Viborgs had in those positions.

I then reterminated the DH Labs on my integrated with a pair of the aluminum bodied VM512 Viborgs (male & IEC, again copper only, unplated)
replacing the Marincos. Had the Viborgs cryoed as well. Results were really impressive in that application. Noticeably quieter background, improved dynamics, more detail with a smoother presentation, etc.)

So I ordered 2 more sets of the VM/VF unplated 512's and redid the phono
preamp cable as well as the cable to the power distributor with those.

Impressed as I was with the Viborg connectors, I bought a metre of their 1606 raw power cable to try out, had that cryoed and ran it on my integrated amplifier, where it was grossly superior to the DH Labs. Much more of the improvements described above with the addition of the
connectors only-the cryoed 1606 made the DH Labs sound muddy, congested
and unrefined by comparison (and I think the DH Labs is a pretty decent cable-it ran circles around stock cables and a number of up to $500 commercial offerings when I started using it many years ago).

I then ordered another 4 metres of the 1606 to go "full Viborg".
So am currently running 4 DIY cryoed Viborg 1606 with VM/VF 512
unplated connectors currently. On integrated, phono pre, power distributor and a linear power supply feeding a DAC.

Huge bang for the buck.
