Depending upon what you view as cheap?, as the norm has been since the late 80's | early 90's when I worked in audio retailing......, the average prices for IC's | SCs | Power Cords at entry level points were $398 | $500 ( 10' pr ) | $398 respectively.
Yet today one can obtain decent sounds at lower prices........, take for example Supra IC's from Denmark ( tin plated copper ) | Cable Research Labs Blue Note Series ( copper ) | Jena Labs Crimson Rx ( silver plated copper ) can be had for under $260.
Speaker Cable wise........., said Supra Ply 3.4S at around $270 for 4m, is very hard to beat, but it offers a warmer | rounder | more forgiving sound, while everything becomes easier to hear once ones mind readjust to its overall flavor, it does music correctly, it's just that it presents music in a more organic manner as opposed to coming across as mere hifi'sh sounding......., you know the type like " in your face " | " look ( listen ) to me, can't you hear?, see me? ". Once again " music lovers can do a whole lot worse ".
