Mick - When I went to the Douglas web page I saw this:
https://douglasconnection.com/products/interconnect-cables-audio-home-theater/digital-interconnect-cables/ready-made-digital-interconnect-cables/
The first item on the list is a Neotech/Vampire SPDIF cable.
When I go to the Bravo cables I see an AES/EBU cable, but no SPDIF.
The reason I ask is that I have this (Neotech/Vampire) cable and it sounds the way you describe yours. I believe Duster favorably recommended this cable a while back. I have kept it over the years because I like to pop it in and hear that presentation.
Apolgies if I needlessly muddled things up, but I wasn't sure which cable you had.
