This tinned, stranded copper wire thing started about 5 years ago when Jeff Day reviewed an integrated amplifier by SPEC Corporation and learned about how one of their principals, Mr. Shirokazu Yazaki believes that Belden 8402 Microphone Cable (for ICs) and vintage Western Electric 16 ga wire (for SCs) results in a "real sound" he described as portraying an "artistic and organic sound quality."
