He didn't specifically mention he wanted an interconnect, so my mind's eye was picturing something like the adapters we both chose, except with three male RCA plugs. That didn't make any sense to me, which is why I asked.

I agree with you, the adapter, with good quality interconnects, should give better performance than a cheaply made single to dual channel interconnect.
