RE: REL BASSLINE BLUE CABLES - better substitute for the cost?

Other than a REL subwoofer application, other speaker-level (high-level) subwoofer cable applications tend to involve two separate stereo speaker cables rather than a single 3-pole dual-channel cable with only one return conductor. It can be said that since the REL subwoofer sums the right and left signals anyway, interchannel crosstalk is not an issue, and that a single return conductor is all that's necessary from an operational POV.

However, running the stereo signals within separate cables allows better noise rejection geometries and less electrical fields interaction between the channels regardless of the channels ultimately being summed by the subwoofer. With only the circuitry of the subwoofer being involved in joining the stereo channels, it seems to me that keeping the channels separated as much as possible upstream would be of benefit vs. a single cable operating as a dual-channel cable.

So a high-quality small aggregate gauge pair of speaker cables, or even a pair of interconnect cables as long as they are unshielded and somewhat large gauge would be an option to consider. Since the Neutrik SpeakOn connector features set-screws for termination, even those who are not handy with a soldering iron could build a DIY version.

Other than the convenience of a single dual-channel cable, I have not read any reports about why a 3-conductor cable might be a superior method vs. a stereo pair of speaker-level subwoofer cables for a REL subwoofer application in particular.
