Great to hear that this overhaul was successful for you. My first epiphany came with the power conditioner. I really started out wanting better surge protection following some component upgrades. I went with a PS Audio Quintet awhile back replacing the standard power strip and the reduction in line noise was quite noticable. Gaps between cuts on CDs was spooky quiet, and I have a very quiet listening room.I like to know the incremental benefit if any with each change so I am just now starting down a similar pc upgrade path. A Pangea AC-9 pc targeted for my amp arrived this morning so I will of course be putting that into play tonight and will begin the break-in process. My hope is that improved current delivery will allow the amp to execute at full potential. My amp manufacturer wants the pc to go straight into a separate wall outlet and on a different circuit if possible, not into a conditioner. His reason is the high current needs of the amp. He suggests that most conditioners in their role of lowering noise also limit the current feed somewhat. I have always powered the amp this way but will be most curious if the new cord makes a difference.
PS audio also suggests that the pc that they provide is just a starter cord and a high current cord would be optimal. Not surprising since they also provide upgraded cords. If the Pangea seems to help the amp I will buy a second AC-9 for the Quintet or perhaps move the Pangea to the Quintet and aim higher for my amp. My amp is a much higher quality piece than the conditioner. After that I'll try some source cord upgrades. I like the idea of either the Pangea AC-14 or the Shunyata Venom 3 for those. I realize all these cords are just the beginning of cord options, but I have always been a value buyer. If I can hear a difference it gives me the proof point I would need to try even more quality at a later date. As I said, I like small steps.
