Re: VH Audio Spectrum Cu Interconnects

Hi astralpen,

Nice review (short and simple, but to the point, for sure). I fully concur with your listening observations. It's also good to know that someone else finds the Spectrum Cu to be extraordinary for HT use (and worthy of it's expense for such). I'm so pleased with the cable for use on my digital front as well as from pre-to-power that I also use a set for my 2-channel HT component (within the same system). I also find the Spectrum Cu to really sing when used for both source and pre-to-power connections. While it's expense might seem like overkill for a HT application; the cable is so beneficial to such that I feel it's value to be well founded. Like yourself, I tried a number of interconnects for HT use, and none came close to what the Spectrum Cu provides. I consider it's sonic signature to be nominally transparent while imparting a certain solid core copper warmth/musicality that's far from sounding euphonic. I find it's sonic signature to have the same "VH Audio AirLok house sound" as the AirSine power cord and CHeLA speaker cable. The Spectrum Ag (silver) version is also outstanding, but solid core silver IC's are not my particular listening preference (solid core silver IC fans should give it a listen, IMHO).

Just a note about durability: Chris informed me that while the cable is very supple and very lightweight (consider the AirLok dielectric); it is actually very robust and should not be considered to be a frigile cable (other than care should be given to the plastic-bodied low mass WBT NextGen rca connectors). It seems to me that the Spectrum is all-about the low mass concept from tip-to-tip (less *is* more, in this case).

Cheers, Duster
