In Reply to: so now a post asking what happened to another post is fair game for being removed? posted by dave c on March 19, 2007 at 15:09:15:

B. As for the removal of the query about why it was gone, see A., above; There was no point in starting up on the topic, again.Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera...

I cannot see how the subject of the original post is the same as the subject of the query about its removal.
And thus I fail to see any reason for the removal of the query.
Does the logic follow through to the removal of THIS entire thread as it is a query about the query?
That would of course necessitate the deletion of your own post.
Confused? You will be!

......……However the greatest weakness I have seen on the AA forums is consistency. It is somewhat understandable as amateur moderators are far more prone to acting on a whim than otherwise maybe be the case if moderating was their full-time job.I must say the logic, or more correctly ‘lack there of’, applied by the Bored in this thread is simply hypocritical and wrong.
Of course as has been pointed out many times by the Bored that they will do whatever they damn well like and if anyone here doesn’t like it we can take a hike.
Regardless of my view of the logic applied I don’t think the issue warrants more than a cursory ‘sigh’.

and they can't read everything, either. All in all, they've done a pretty good job of keeping things sane.Old story, but once upon a time my email box started to get full of comments and requests for help from people on the Asylum. Rod couldn't replicate the problem and it only happened for a few hours, but what it did do is open my eyes to the kind of crap the moderators deal with. Some of it is valid, some of it is stupid, some of it falls into the middle somewhere. Actually most fell into the first two categories.
The moderators deserve a break, believe me. They must do a decent job, because the Asylum has maintained a consistent level of sanity for years.......and we have been through a lot of changes.
.......………I doubt I would disagree with your sentiments. For all intents and purposes the Asylum is a pretty well run site. However, I see nothing wrong with voicing my opinion to what I see as hypocritical logic applied by the Bored in this thread. Surely people here reading this can’t be offended by polite criticism of the Bored?
Any arbitrary system will generate criticism from time to time (rightly so in my view)
