Welcome! Need support, you got it. Or share you ideas and experiences.

My thanks to those that provided feedback. As I said below, there are many reasons to keep the forum going and many reasons to close it.Yes, I do understand the good PR provided by just having the forum here, but I also understand the bad PR from having a forum that nobody posts to, or a forum where simple questions may go unanswered for days and days due to the lack of participation.... or at least until Ron answers them :)
Several of you postulated that the chatter is low here because we make a near perfect amp. Well OK, but we do sell so many more items than just DRD amplifiers.
As I said, I do have a placeholder for a forum on the new website so I will take into consideration the thoughts and ideas you have shared. This forum will be archived on AA so you will still be able to access all of the old posts.
Hi guys,You know, if you really need help with kits, you'll get the same answers you always had from Ron. Likely, he'll have more time for you than when running the forum.
Also, there's Tube-DIY, with the possible drawback being that the information might be more general and that you might learn a bit more about this hobby (and why Ron's gear is so good).
Likely, the people most inclined to help you will be spending more time there anyway so this will probably just end up being a change of venue as far as community based support is concerned.
Cheers,
Thom

Sorry that you won't reconsider your decision, but, that is your call. Over the weekend I did a little research and I see you went on line with the forum in Sept of 2000. Quite a while to host the forum. I also get the impression that activity grew for a while, peaked then declined. I can certainly understand your dismay.I still plan to buy more toys from Welborne, since I can generally correct my errors on kits, so guess I will muddle through. But, what about those others (newbees?) that surely will buy some of your gear? It is nice to have a manufacture-supplier specific forum to discuss things, bounce ideas. (as pointed out by others, perhaps Welborne designs are too well designed ie: goof proof?) There is the Tube Asylum but some of those guys want to talk about the sonics of tubes manufactured Lunar eclipses ;-)
Finally, let me say that the Welborne Remote Attenuator is the "Kattz Azzz". Works great and I can not detect any difference between a Alps Black Beauty or my brass encased stepped attenuator built on a 26 position dual rotary switch (built by my buddy Sheldon @ SDS Labs). I strongly recommend this to anyone with a hankering for a stepped attenuator. Heck, for about the same price as a Dale resistor equipped Goldpoint, you can have remote control with mute with the Welborne design!
Glad I bought it!
Opps,
Let me restate what I originally posted:> > Works great and I can not detect any difference between a Alps Black Beauty or my brass encased stepped attenuator built on a 26 position dual rotary switch (built by my buddy Sheldon @ SDS Labs).
What I meant to say was in comparison to shunt wired controls that I have on hand I heard no odd things (ie: noise, distortion HF roll off etc....) Sound wise it is totally transparent, sonic "artifact-less".
As the old guy who used to run Chrysler used to say: "if you can find a better attenuator, buy it".
