I am very close to diving into the SET world and am seriously considering either of your amps, the Laurel II with upgrade and the Moondog with upgrade. If so I am going with either the Oris 150 package or the lowthers in the Medalion cabinets. My question is which amp would be a better match with the lowthers, and I currently have a pair of EVS Ultimate attenuators, would this be a fine match for the amp. My EVS Millenium Dac has a 4 volt output. I appreciate your input on this.
Thanks,
Mike
Either amp works well with the Lowther drivers and the Medallion cabinets. However the Moondogs seem to be the prefered amp to go with the Medallions.
As for the Oris 150; if you plan to run our Oris/Cabaz system with a passive crossover then the Laurels and their extra 5 watts might be the better match in terms of greater drive capability and dynamics.
If you plan to run the Oris speakers in a bi-amped setup, then you could use either the Moondogs or Laurels for the Oris horn and another more powerful amp for the bass cabinet.
Your EVS DAC and attenuators will work fine with any of the above combinations.
