Is the Reveille Phono direct coupled or are there capacitors in the signal path ?

I use one and have no desire to change. It is a wonderful sounding unit and a sonic bargain IMHO. *I* could care less about the design.
That's what Ron is for!Later,
Except for the RIAA network, the Reveille Phonostage is all direct coupled.
No one has figured out how to perform RIAA response curve adjustments without capacitors. It is one of those silly "laws of nature" things. Are you referring to the output DC blocking capacitor? You have to get rid of DC offset one way or another. You can either use a servo circuit, manual adjustment with a pot, or a cap. Which to use is really up to the designer to implement what they feel sounds best.
You cannot make any sound quality assessments based on "blocking caps or no blocking caps"
