Unfortunately the media wants attention and it is so much easier to focus attention at criticising our goverment - not recognizing the tireless and heroic efforts of our relief personnel. So you get general Bush bashing instead of accolades that give hope and inspire people. Here is another article that pretty much aims straight at the issue at hand - that of a state being just unprepared. But you won't find much of this in the mainline press since it obviously recognizes Jeb Bush for this strong leadership in preparing Florida for these type disasters.

Thanks for your post. Recognizing the folks on the ground who do their jobs above and beyond the call of duty is important. We all are lucky to have them. Bush bashing is pointless because even presidents have limited power in due part to the laws of this country. I think a few of the so called liberals need to read some basic texts and articles on this; but hey; why cloud the issue with facts. Believe it or not Clark Johnsen has a few appropriate posts on this matter, and recent articles from the NY Times and Washington Post are highlighting this issue.
