Narcotics = Opioids, opiates, and opium. Left out the last two.

I can assure you, I am an expert when it comes to opiates and opioids. Heroin (a purified form and derived from Morphine) for instance is so widely misunderstood in every way. People freak out when they hear the word "heroin", however 90% of what you read about it is completely false.
Now the term "narcotics" has come to mean "any illegal drug". For 100 years it was specific in that it referred to opiates and later opioids (synthetic variants).
that is why they are considered narcotics. I am not sure how I feel about drug laws, but I certainly am inffuriated that the feds can not correctly descride the substances and allow congress to make the laws regulating them. I am also dismayed that the current classification of pot prevents research (by law). Yes you can use marinol on your rats, but that is not the only active ingredient in pot (which is why the use does not have the same efficacy as pot in chemo patients).By the way, did you see the ages of these guys... Maybe we all need some...
