no i haven't heard any of these.. live in a rural location so never get to see anything.. depend a lot on all of you..so the SL-1210 is a good choice or just better than the roundly derided stanton?

Tweakk is probably right about resale value, however 3 yrs ago there would have been nobody here that would have steered you towards the Technics table either (except for one person). Truth is, no one here probably knows anything about the sound of the Stanton. However it is a DJ table made for mobile use, which may indicate its build quality is one that is more favorable for mobile use.
That said, here are a few other choicesRega P3 costs a little more that the DJ tables. Many people like this table also. It is probably the most popular table in its price range.

Then too, Here's a Music Hall MMF-5 which also gets good reviews for the same price as the Stanton. It also gets good reviews for its price range

For the record, I have not owned or listened to any of the tables mentioned.

Well, I've owned them all but the Stanton. I've owned a Planar 3, two MMF-5s, A Technics SL-1200MK2 and the Denon DP-300F. Of those, I'd rate the P3 and Technics very close but the P3 is about $200 more. Either betters the MMF-5. The bang for buck champs are the SL-1210MK2 for $399 without cart and the Denon $329 including cart, although one can get it for even less.

The Stanton is probably fine but from past experience with them I would not expect anything special. Not that the Technics is spectacular but it has guaranteed build quality and reliability. Plus it keeps its value even after years of use. If kept in mint condition, you can sell it with little loss. Nobody wants a used Stanton. The straight arm DJ decks are for scratching only.
I have haven't heard the Denon yet but for the price it looks promising. I will be ordering one soon. It's under $250 with shipping.
