The tonearm counterweight is solid steel (maybe so it can be used to drive in tent stakes?) so it's hard to see how one can balance the arm. Not very precise but there is a set screw underneath.Motor assy. extends 7" below the platter.
Throwing pots - very droll!

I own one of those, so I took another look at it. The counterweight has a small hex setscrew, so I loosened it with an Allen wrench. It slid back and forth, so that's how you do it. That seems a bit awkward, especially since you work from the bottom. The good news is that the weight can be slid off the back, and flipped over. That makes things a lot easier.I realize that on this forum any derogatory comment about the tonearm (or anything else, except Barry Manilow) will be met with fierce opposition from some corner of the world, but I'm willing to take the risk. The tonearm doesn't have a lot going for it, in my opinion. It is rugged, but that's about it. Have you considered replacing it with something better? That's what I did with mine.
Actually, in use in the broadcast environment, tracking force was set by adding small copper shims on the mounting screws in the headshell. Talk about adding mass!IIRC, the bearing in the arm were saffire; still, I would mount another arm if possible.
Thanks. I have the shims, actually. But I think I will use another tone arm. Believe it or not, I have 2 of these TTs and arms (identical). One will go up for sale. In the meantime, lots of testing, esp. to see if the idler drive is quiet, w/o rumble.
