I am thinking of rebuilding an old Koetsu Black with Rosewood Signature innwards. Question is how close will that be to a genuine Rosewood Signature?BTW, is Koetsu Wood another name for Koetsu Black, and Koetsu Red the same as Rosewood?
Also where can I find the link to the history describing the various models of Koetsu cartridges?

not van den hul... but who can do it extreme well? know of any?
would indicate that they would likely do an equally superb job on the Koetsu. The Accuphase has a Sapphire cantilever and I must say that if it werenn't for the Garrott sticker they put on the phono cartridge you would never know it was a re-tip. Most importantly, they retained the AC-2's sonic character.I have heard anecdotally that this is not the case with the VdH Koetsu work.
Good Luck!

HelloTo answer your first question, yes.close enough. The only difference will be the "sound" of different body matterial, wood vs plastic,if it actually is plastic !
Koetsu wood is another name for Koetsu red.Different markets different name. Some markets call the Red,mk iv or pro etc.Koetsu don't give out info about their cartridges and that is not because it is something secret. It is actually because it is a small company.
I will give you a hi-fi site to check out a few things. The guy who owns it did a few reviews on Koetsu cartridges.I hope it will be informative. www.10audio.com
