I completely agree. The wax I mentioned is a high-end auto wax, however.

Thanks for the clarification Mosin. I used clear Briwax on the platter because it was handy, use Zymol on the cars. Is the auto stuff you mentioned primarily Carnuba or another natural wax, or is it a synthetic?
This wax is a blend with some mild cleaners added. It is one typically used by car enthusiasts who show their hot rods, etc. The Ardex line has another wax called Topaz that has no cleaners added. I picked Flint Glaze because it would be the better choice for removing recently made fingerprints, etc. It is similar to the old style Blue Coral wax from back in the days when the stuff was actually blue, but was dscontinued because of its high price way back in the early 1970's. Ardex makes some good replacements for it, fortunately. Flint Glaze is under twenty dollars a can.
