poor (non-existent) strain relief system, too many reports of broken contacts.
for large-diameter, circular cross-section stuff it should be OK, although it'll never be as robust as a metal plug with crimp or clamp, but then the whole point of the Eichmann's is the lack of metal in them.'Hair-shirt Hifi.'
Broken contacts or broken [soldered] wire to conact connections, or broken wires?Fabrication with the plug does require DIY design-planning for strain relief. Built-up heat shrink appears to workable. I find the plug's connection (the RCA-toRCA interface) to be tenacious, and I like that.
I was going to DIY an incognito knock-off (now changed plans) and had a similar idea in mind - I was going to run the cardas 33-guage through a short length of tough plastic tube/sleeve of some kind (about 5mm diameter), then bind the screen-braid and polyester braid tightly around that with heatshrink.
